About Alyson

I started Stanfield Art Associates in 2001--after working as a curator and educator in art museums for ten years. 

My work is distinguished by a background that combines knowledge of the artworld with valuable experience educating the general art-viewing public. What does that mean for you? It means that I know how people interact with art, how they approach it, what they fear, and how we can educate them and alleviate their fears. My clients benefit from this knowledge and use it to shape their presentations to the media and public.

While my thesis was written on mid-20th-century American painting, I have authored articles for museum publications and critical reviews of contemporary art for magazines such as Fiberarts and American Craft.  

I have also served as an art critic for two Colorado newspapers and continue to distribute my own weekly, motivational e-newsletter for artists, which is part of my artist career advising services through ArtBizCoach.com. 

I have both written and reviewed many grant applications on the local and national levels. My B.A. and M.A. are in art history and I have taught at the community college and university levels.
